Embassy Staff attend Peace Education Collaboration Forum by JICA Palau Office

2026/3/26

On March 24, 2026, Embassy of Japan staff attended the Peace Education Collaboration Forum held by the JICA Palau Office at West Plaza Hotel.

The main discussion focused on developing and promoting peace education in Palau and Okinawa.

During the forum, JICA Palau staff explained that peace education is well suited to Palau given its unique history and culture. This approach can help preserve that history and even support tourism initiatives.

This perspective was reinforced in the closing dialogue session, where attendees noted that peace education is increasingly important today. As we approach the 81st year after World War II, there are fewer survivors able to share their experiences. Teaching younger generations early is essential to ensure these stories and lessons are not lost.
