2025/1/21

On January 21, 2025, the Okinawa Prefectural Assembly’s Economy and Labor Committee, led by Chairman ARAKAKI Yoshitoyo and Vice-Chairman JIROKU Masataka, paid a courtesy visit to Hon. Arnold Oilouch, Vice President of the Republic of Palau. The delegation, accompanied by fellow committee members, discussed key aspects of their ongoing collaboration, focusing on areas of mutual interest, including agriculture, fisheries, environmental conservation, and tourism.
Following their meeting with Vice President Oilouch, the Okinawan delegation visited Palau’s Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and the Environment (MAFE), where they were welcomed by Hon. Minister Steven Victor.
The Assembly’s visit continues on January 22, 2025, with additional meetings planned at the Ministry of Human Resources, Culture, Tourism, & Development (MCRCTD) and the Ministry of Public Infrastructure and Industries (MPII).
This visit is part of a continued commitment outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between Okinawa Prefecture and the Republic of Palau on August 26, 2022. The MOU serves as the foundation for fostering deeper people-to-people exchanges and enhancing cooperation in various sectors.
As Okinawa and Palau work together, they aim to build a stronger foundation for mutual prosperity, environmental stewardship, and cultural exchange—laying the groundwork for a vibrant and sustainable future.
