Luncheon with Japan Alumni Association

On February 26, 2025, the Embassy of Japan in Palau hosted a luncheon for Alumni of Japan Government Scholarship. The purpose of the gathering is to exchange information and ideas on possible alumni activities and events to promote the scholarship as well as Japanese culture in Palau.
 
13 alumni including Senator Brian Melairei and Minister Ngiraibelas Tmetuchl attended in this year’s first gathering to re-launch the Association of Japan Government Scholarship Alumni of Palau.
 
In her opening remarks, Ms. Carlisa Ngedebuu, the President of Japan Alumni Association, expressed her appreciation to the Embassy for its support in commemorating the relaunch of the Japan Alumni Association officially being recognized as a chartered Non-Profit Organization. Ms. Carlisa emphasized that the association will make efforts to be more active this year and also announced that, the alumni will be joining the Japan Club’s 'Mochitsuki' event at Ernguul Park.
 
Mr. ONO Shunsuke, Deputy of Chief Mission of the Embassy of Japan in Palau, led the discussion about the vision of the association and shared some of his ideas for alumni activities based on his experience in other countries.
 
The members discussed a few activity ideas to support the project to preserve Japanese historical sites, opportunities for alumni to support the 2025 Osaka Expo and to utilize social media to promote Japan and Palau.
