Cultural Exchange Meeting with Alumni of Japan Government Scholarship in Palau
2024/3/2

On March 2, 2024, the Embassy of Japan in Palau and the Japan Club of Palau co-hosted an exchange event for Alumni of Japan Government Scholarship in Palau for the first time. Welcoming a total of more than 200 participants including Japan Government Scholarship alumni, their families and members of the Japan Club of Palau, the festive event was a great success.
Ms. Carlisa Ngedebuu, President of Alumni of Japan Government Scholarship in Palau, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to study in Japan under the Japanese Government Scholarship Program and her pleasure at the first official exchange between the Japan Club of Palau and the Alumni of Japan Government Scholarship in Palau.
The participants enjoyed trying their hand at mochi-tsuki (rice cake pounding) and tasting freshly pounded mochi, as well as origami, calligraphy, and kendama at the Japanese culture experience booths presented by the Japan Club of Palau.
As 2024 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Palau, the importance of people-to-people exchange between the two countries is increasing to deepen the ties even further. The Embassy of Japan hopes to continue to work with Alumni of Japan Government Scholarship in Palau to inspire the younger generations in Palau to take interest in Japan, encourage more Palauan students to study in Japan and further develop the bilateral relations between the two countries.
