JMSDF destroyer SHIRANUI to anchor in Malakal, Palau, from Wednesday, July 26 to Thursday, July 27

A Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) destroyer SHIRANUI, which is part of the Indo-Pacific Deployment 2023 (IPD23) unit, will anchor in Malakal, Koror from 8:00 am on Wednesday, July 26 to 1:30 pm on Thursday, July 27, 2023, carrying approximately 180 crew members. You will be able to view SHIRANUI from Icebox Park or from your own boats.
During their visit to Palau, the JMSDF members will conduct Japan - Palau goodwill exercise, engage in friendly exchanges with the local community including children through judo and meet with the Government of Palau officials including Hon. J. Uduch Sengebau-Senior, Vice President of Palau, to further build the friendship between the two countries. During their stay, around 180 JMSDF members are expected to land on the islands of Palau to enjoy shopping and dining. Sharing a long history of friendly relations, Japan and Palau are advancing cooperation to realize a "Free and Open Indo-Pacific." This goodwill exercise and exchange is one of the concrete efforts.
