Ambassador Orikasa visited Peleliu State

Ambassador ORIKASA Hiroyuki visited Peleliu state from July 17 to 19, 2023.
 
1   Honorable Emais Roberts, Governor of Peleliu State
On July 18, Ambassador Orikasa met with Honorable Emais Roberts, Governor of Peleliu State. Governor Roberts is also a physician who has served as Minister of Health. In addition to his general administrative duties as a governor, he also provides medical care at the only national clinic in Peleliu, where there is no doctor on duty. It is not unusual for him to have to see patients late at night when there is an emergency. He is also a friendly person who is always approached by members of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, who are working to extend the state's airstrips. This photo shows him checking a waterway that has become shallow due to sediment buildup caused by ocean currents.


2 Mr. Jerry Singeo
On July 17, Ambassador Orikasa met with Mr. Jerry (Niheiji) Okiyama, the eldest son of the late Obaku Singeo Peleliu's traditional chief.

 
3 Ms. Mayumi Shinosuke
On July 17, Ambassador Orikasa met with Ms. Mayumi Shinosuke (left) of the Mayumi Inn, which has been providing accommodations for Japanese who visit Peleliu for memorial services and bone collection since the 1960s.

 
4 Ms. Mayumi Hokota
On July 18, Ambassador Orikasa met with Ms. Mayumi Hokota, who owns “Dolphin Bay Resort and Peleliu Divers.” She came to Peleliu in 1996 after having lived in Saipan and Guam.

 
5 Mr. Des Matsutaro
On July 18, Ambassador Orikasa met with Mr. Des Matsutaro, who is a guide in Peleliu as well as managing Orange Beach Café and a hotel. His uncle is H.E. Francis Matsutaro former Ambassador of Palau to Japan.

 
6 Ms. Kimiko Cruz
On July 19, Ambassador Orikasa met with Ms. Kimiko Cruz, who owns Alex Cruz’s Motel. She drove Ambassador to the dock in the morning to see him off.
