The Departure Ceremony of Alingano Maisu by Micronesia Voyaging Society

On April 30, 2023, Ambassador ORIKASA Hiroyuki attended the Departure Ceremony of Alingano Maisu (a double-hulled canoe) hosted by Micronesian Voyaging Society at Drop Off Bar & Grill restaurant in Koror. The ceremony was attended by President Surangel Whipps Jr., Paramount Chief Reklai, Mr. Shallum Etpison, President of the society and others. This boat is on a 4-5 day journey to reach Yap, employing the traditional way of navigation. Master Navigator Sesario Sewralur and his crew will undertake an arduous voyage across Western Micronesia and return in June, promoting and supporting traditional navigation.
