Courtesy call by Governor of Okinawa Prefecture Mr. Denny Tamaki

On January 16, 2023, Ambassador ORIKASA Hiroyuki received a courtesy call from Governor of Okinawa Prefecture Mr. Denny Tamaki and a delegation of 15 members from Okinawa's public and private sectors during their visit to Palau. Their visit was intended to produce tangible results based on the "Memorandum of Understanding on strengthening friendly relations between the Republic of Palau and Okinawa Prefecture of Japan" signed in August 2022, and to promote further people-to-people exchanges and other cooperative activities between Okinawa and Palau. Ambassador Orikasa, the Okinawa Governor and his delegation exchanged views on a wide range of topics including the current political, diplomatic, and economic situation in Palau and Palau's high expectations for Okinawa's cooperation.
