Research Program for SY2027 (Applications CLOSED)

The Research Student Programs offer college graduates and graduate students the opportunity to study and research a specific field at a Japanese university. This program lasts for the necessary period for completion of  the applicants course.

Duration	The necessary period for the completion of the respective regular course. Extension may be possible if you proceed to a further degree program. (The first 6-month is language training.)
Outline of eligibility	Academic Background: Bachelor’s degree or higher Age: born on or after April 2, 1992 Study area: the same field that the applicant has studied, or a related field Nationality: Palauan
Departure date	April or October 2027
Field of Study	The field of study they majored in at university or its related field.
Placement at University	Designated by MEXT, based on your admission or a letter of provisional acceptance you obtain from Japanese universities.
Application deadline	May 29, 2026
Exam	Japanese and English

(1) Submission of Application Forms (Deadline: 4:30 pm on Friday, May 29, 2026)
(2) Placement Tests (Date: Wednesday, June 24, 2026)
(3) Interview (Date: Wednesday, July 08, 2026)
(4) Second Selection by MEXT (November to December, 2026)
(5) Decision of University by MEXT (January to February, 2027)
(6) Departure (April, 2027)
