Parliamentary Vice Minister Yoshida of Japan Visits Palau

On July 27 to 28, 2026, Hon. YOSHIDA Shinji, Parliamentary Vice Minister of Defense visited Palau as his first overseas trip since assuming the position.

On the morning of the 27th, Parliamentary Vice-Minister YOSHIDA paid a courtesy call on Hon. Jennifer Olegeriil, Minster of Justice, during which they exchanged views on strengthening security cooperation in Palau. In the afternoon of the same day, he visited the Joint Operation Center and PSS KEDAM at the Bureau of Maritime Security and Fish & Wildlife Protection Building and also offered flowers and prayers at the Former Navy Cemetery in Koror.

On the 28th, Parliamentary Vice-Minister YOSHIDA visited Peleliu Island, where they paid their respects at the Monument for the War Dead of the Western Pacific in Peleliu to honor the fallen Japanese soldiers. During his stay in Peleliu, he also met with United States Marine Corps and visited sites where efforts are being made to collect the remains of those who lost their lives during the war.
