Maris Stella Students Experience Japanese Calligraphy and Student Exchange

On July 14, 2026, renowned Japanese calligrapher Ms. Katei visited Maris Stella School to introduce students to the art of Shodo, or Japanese calligraphy.

 Students learned how to properly use traditional calligraphy tools and practiced writing selected kanji as Ms. Katei guided them through the techniques and shared about Japanese culture.

The students also participated in an online exchange with sixth-grade students from Oya Elementary School in Japan. Students from both countries asked questions, shared about their cultures, and learned Japanese calligraphy together.

The event was a meaningful and enjoyable cultural exchange that strengthened friendship and understanding between students in Palau and Japan.
