"Pacific Children's Week" 50th Anniversary Reunion Project — Online Exchange Event Held
2026/7/6

On Friday, 3rd July, the Embassy of Japan in Palau hosted an online exchange event connecting Palau, Japan, and Pohnpei as part of the "50th Anniversary Reunion Project."
This project aims to reunite Palauan participants of the "Pacific Children's Week," held approximately 50 years ago, with their Japanese counterparts — bridging half a century of memories and friendship.
During the event, participants joined via video call from three locations, sharing old photographs and memories from their time together, while also exchanging updates on their lives today. The atmosphere was warm and deeply moving, as decades of separation melted away in an instant through heartfelt conversation and laughter.
The Embassy of Japan in Palau remains committed to fostering people-to-people connections between Japan, Palau, and the wider Pacific Island region through initiatives like this project.
If you or someone you know participated in the "Pacific Children's Week" approximately 50 years ago, please reach out to the Pacific Islands Association ((https://pia.or.jp/)) or the Embassy.
