Sapporo Medical University Team Visits the Embassy

On June 24, 2026, a team from Sapporo Medical University — Dr. TSUJI Yoshihisa, Dr. YAMA Naoya, Mr. HOSAKI Masaya, and Mr. TAKAHASHI Masaru — met with Mr. ONO Shunsuke, Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Embassy.

The Sapporo Medical University team has commenced a JICA-partnership project aimed at establishing a training system for gastrointestinal cancer screening in Palau, in cooperation with Belau National Hospital. With the support of Peace Winds Japan, Sapporo Medical University accepted Dr. Kalei Arurang as a clinical training physician last year and has been providing online support since then.
