The Follow-up

On May 21, 2026, the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects (GGP) Coordinator of the Embassy of Japan visited Koror State Recycling Center met with Mr. Selby P. Etibek, Koror State Government Solid Waste Management Office Manager. The visit was conducted as part of follow-up to “The Project for Koror State Government Compost Facility and Recycling Center.”
The volume of beverage containers collected increased significantly. Following the introduction of a new recycling system in 2007, which promotes the recovery and recycling of beverage containers. In response to this demand, two beverage container compressors and one beverage container crusher were provided through this project.
Nearly 19 years after their provision, these machines continue to be used on a daily basis for processing and recycling aluminum cans and glass, playing an important role in supporting local waste management.
Waste management is a fundamental element of both environmental protection and quality of life. Its stable operation contributes significantly to environmental conservation and the well-being of local residents.
The Embassy of Japan hopes that these machines will continue to be actively used, contributing to the promotion of sustainable waste management.
