Ambassador Visits Koror-Airai Water Treatment Plant

On May 13, 2026, Ambassador KASAHARA Kenichi visited the PPUC Water Treatment Plant in Ngeruluobel, Airai. The visit provided an opportunity to observe firsthand the processes involved in treating and delivering the primary source of clean water for Koror and Airai, the two most populous states in the Republic.
During the tour, Ambassador Kasahara met with the Koror-Airai Water Treatment Plant Acting Supervisor Mr. Judgewin Daniel, who provided a technical overview of the facility’s operations. The visit highlighted how water collected from the Ngerimel reservoir and Ngerikiil river is treated to ensure public safety, maintaining strict adherence to EQPB water safety standards and protocols.
The Ambassador also inspected the water pumps located near the Ngerikiil river, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the infrastructure supporting Palau’s clean water supply. Built in 1993, the Ngeruluobel water treatment plant remains an integral service to the island nation, providing the most essential resource for public wellbeing.
