2026 Ikebana Workshop & live demonstration
2026/4/28

On April 24, 2026, Ms. YOKOI Koen, a renowned Ikebana Artist shared the Japanese culture of Ikebana or the art of flower arrangement, to more than 50 students, tourists and local residents who attended the Green Fair held at Ernguul Park. The Green Fair is an annual event organized by Palau Visitors Authority as part of the Earth Day activities.
It was Ms. Yokoi`s 6th time to conduct the Ikebana workshop and Ikebana live demonstration in Palau. For the workshop, the participants chose the materials for their imaginary rock garden and creatively arranged the rocks, green plants and flowers inside a half-split bamboo filled with sand. The students enjoyed creating their own rock gardens. Ambassador Kasahara and Minister Aitaro stopped by the Ikebana workshop booth to meet Ms. Yokoi.
In the afternoon, Ms. Yokoi did a live demonstration of Ikebana using local plants including the flame tree known as sakura in Palau, and combining it with imitation cherry blossoms that she brought from Japan to express the friendship between Japan and Palau.
