Visit of the Friendship League of the City Councils

From April 21 to 23, a delegation from the Friendship League of the City Council Group, led by Chairman Tatsuma Murakami, visited Palau.

The Friendship League of the City Council Group has a nation-wide network connecting Japanese municipalities with ties to Palau to promote exchange. This time, the delegation was comprised of representatives from seven municipal governments, including the Kobe City Council and Sapporo City Council.

During their stay, the delegation paid courtesy calls to to H.E. Surangel S. Whipps, Jr., President of the Republic of Palau, and Hon. Steven Victor, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and the Environment. They also visited Belau National Hospital and the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (BCBP) and exchanged views on how the strengths of each municipal government could be used to promote their exchange in goods and technology.

The Embassy is delighted to witness the network of municipalities involved with Palau and hopes the network will be expanded in the coming years.
