Visit of the Hokkaido Legislative Assembly Members’ Group for Japan-Palau Friendship
2026/4/15

From April 9 to 12, 2026, a delegation from the Hokkaido Legislative Assembly Members’ Group for Japan-Palau Friendship, led by Chairman Noritoshi Murata, visited Palau.
The group was established in 2025 to promote the historic and friendly relations between Hokkaido and Palau. During their stay in Palau, the delegation paid courtesy calls to H.E. Surangel S. Whipps, Jr., President of the Republic of Palau, Hon. Gibson Kanai, Speaker of the House of Delegates, and Hon. Emais Roberts, Governor of Peleliu States. They also visited Belau Modekngei High School, Belau National Hospital, and Palau Visitors Authority (PVA) where they exchanged views on promoting people-to-people exchanges between Palau and Hokkaido.
In addition, a special baseball clinic was held on April 11, with the cooperation of JICA Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers, and a donation ceremony for baseball equipment collected from all over Hokkaido was held.
The Embassy hopes that this visit will further promote exchanges between Hokkaido and Palau, especially for the future generation.
