On April 9, 2026, Ambassador Kasahara attended a memorial service organized by Mr. Deguchi Yoshitaka, the head of Japanese visitors on a Memorial Trip of War Dead in Peleliu, along with the Hokkaido Legislative Assembly Members’ Group for Japan-Palau Friendship.

April 9th is the day that Their Majesties the Emperor Emeritus and Empress Emerita (then Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress) visited Peleliu in 2015, and it has been designated a public holiday in Peleliu State, symbolizing the deep bond between Japan and Palau.

Ambassador Kasahara also met with Hon. Emais Roberts, Governor of Peleliu State and Hon. Billy Rekemel, Speaker of the Peleliu State Legislature, along with the delegation, and exchanged views on the historical relationship between Japan and Palau and the prospects for future exchanges.
