The 2026 visit of “Bosei Maru” Research and Training Vessel from Tokai University

“Bosei Maru,” a research and training vessel owned by Tokai University, visited Palau from March 5 to 8, carrying 97 students and more than 10 staff members. During their stay, the students and faculty had the opportunity to explore Palau’s rich history and culture.
On March 6th, Tokai University students held an exchange event with JICA volunteer host families and representatives from Palau Community College led by President Dr. Patrick Tellei, along with members of Palau’s Judo Federation led by Ms. Jennifer Anson. The event was also attended by members of the diplomatic corps, including U.S. Ambassador H.E. Joel Ehrendreich, ROC Taiwan Ambassador H.E. Andy Kang-I Chen, and Australian Ambassador H.E. Toby Sharpe.
The program began with remarks by Tokai University Representative and Ambassador KASAHARA Kenichi giving the toast address. Followed by, cultural exchange activities such as Japanese calligraphy (shodo), origami, ayatori (similar to cat’s cradle), and ending with a judo demonstration and group dance with the Tokai University students and guests.
