JENESYS 2025 Participants share their experience at PCC Assembly Hall

2026/2/4

On February 3rd, 2026, Palau Community College Students, Ms. Svenja H. Yosinao and Ms. Sydney D. Francisco shared their experience during the JENESYS Program in Japan at the Palau Community College Assembly Hall. Mr. ONO Shunsuke, Deputy Chief of Mission, delivered opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of these exchanges as they help to foster the tokubetsu relationship between Japan and Palau. The JENESYS Program, funded by the Japanese Government, aims to foster cultural exchange and international friendships between Japan and the Asia-Pacific region.

Ms. Sydney and Ms. Svenja delivered a joint presentation sharing the many activities they participated in while in Japan from January 14 to January 21. As part of the JENESYS program, each invited student had a specific theme to research and both students were to research and learn about climate change and risk disaster management in the Hyogo Prefecture. They also experienced a traditional matcha ceremony and participated in a homestay with Japanese host families.

The short- term invitation programs are a great opportunity for students to experience life in Japan and hopefully inspire students to pursue educational opportunities in Japan in the future.
