House of Councillors ODA Monitoring Team Visits Palau

From January 12 to 15, 2026, members of the House of Councillors Official Development Assistance (ODA) Monitoring Team -Hon. FURUKAWA Toshiharu (Head: Liberal Democratic Party), Hon. YAMADA Taro (Liberal Democratic Party), Hon. HATA Jiro (The Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan and Social Democratic Party and the Independent), and Hon. TAMURA Mami (Democratic Party for the People and The Shin-Ryokufukai)-visited Palau.
During their visit, the delegation inspected Japan’s ODA projects led by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Palau in areas including infrastructure (bridges and Palau International Airport), environment, disaster prevention, health, and education.
The delegation also paid a courtesy call on H.E. Surangel S. Whipps Jr., President of the Republic of Palau, and also met with Hon. Raynold B. Oilouch, Vice President and the Minister of Health and Human Services, and other cabinet members, exchanging views on the effective utilization and future prospects of Japan’s ODA in Palau.
