Presentation of Credentials by the New Ambassador KASAHARA Kenichi

On December 16, 2025, the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Palau, H.E. KASAHARA Kenichi, presented his credentials to H.E. President Surangel S. Whipps, Jr. at the One-Stop-Shop building.

Attending the ceremony were Paramount Chief, Reklai, Hon. Mario Guilbert, Vice Speaker of the House of Delegates, Hon. Senator Mason Ngirchechebangel Whipps, Hon. Gustav N. Aitaro, Minister of State, Hon. Jennifer S. Olegeriil, Minister of Justice, Hon. Ngiraibelas Tmetuchl, Minister of Human Resources, Culture, Tourism and Development.

In his speech, Ambassador KASAHARA stated, “I am grateful to present my credentials shortly after my arrival. Palau will assume the chairmanship of the Pacific Island Form (PIF) in 2026 and scheduled to co-host the Pacific Island Leaders Meeting (PALM 11) with Japan in 2027. I am delighted to be able to contribute as Ambassador during these ‘Tokubetsu (トクベツ)’ years”, expressing his commitment to further strengthening Japan-Palau relations and friendship.

The Embassy of Japan in Palau will continue to carry out various activities to serve as a bridge between Japan and Palau.
