Japan Coast Guard Mobile Cooperation Team (MCT) visits the Embassy

On December 10, 2025, Deputy Chief of Mission Mr. Ono met with Japan Coast Guard Mobile Cooperation Team (MCT) led by Mr. TOKU Ryoki, Director for Coast Guard International Cooperation. They exchanged views on maritime security in Palau.

From December 8, 2025, the MCT will conduct a search and rescue training with the Marine Law and host workshops on international maritime law (United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS)) to the officers. The two-week training aims to strengthen Japan-Palau cooperation in maritime security.

The MCT initiative is an annual training exchange supported by the Nippon Foundation and the Sasakawa Peace Foundation.
