2025/9/4

On September 3rd, 2025, as part of the program, Palau High School students were given a guided tour of the training ship Kagoshima Maru, where they had the opportunity to interact with Japanese students currently undergoing maritime training onboard.

The program also welcomed representatives from the Micronesian Voyaging Society (MVS): Mr. Ephraim Ngirachitei, Mr. Sesario Sewralur, and Ms. Sydney Francisco. During the event, Mr. Sewralur and Mr. Ngirachitei spoke about the mission of MVS and shared their hopes for students to deepen their understanding of Micronesian voyaging traditions.

Following the talks, students from both Palau and Japan spent time mingling and engaging in cultural exchange activities. The Kagoshima Unversity students introduced aspects of traditional Japanese culture, including shodo (Japanese calligraphy), shamisen (a traditional three-stringed instrument), origami, and even local snacks.
