2025/9/3

From August 26th to 29th, members of the Sanseito Party (Hon. SUZUKI Atsushi, Member of the House of Representatives, Hon. UMEMURA Mizuho, Member of the House of Councillors, and Hon. GOTO Shota, Member of the House of Councillors) visited Palau.
On 26th, the delegation paid a memorial visit to Peleliu Island, dedicating flowers at the “Monument of the War Dead in the Western Pacific" and “Mitama (souls of war dead)” Memorial Site. Additionally, they visited the mass burial site on Peleliu Island to see the progress of the human remains reparation project in Palau.
On the 27th, the delegation paid a courtesy call to H.E. Surangel S. Whipps, Jr., President of Palau. They exchanged views on the implementation of renewable energy in Palau, tourism promotion through the launch of direct flights between Narita and Koror in October, and fisheries and marine resource conservation.
The same evening, the delegation had an opportunity to deepen exchanges with Palauan leaders in a dinner event attended by President Whipps, Hon. Stevenson Kuartei, Vice President of the Senate, Hon. Gustav Aitaro, Minister of State, and Hon. Ngiraibelas Tmetuchl, Minister of Human Resource, Culture, Tourism & Development. The Embassy hopes this visit became another opportunity to strengthen the partnership between Japan and Palau.
