Ms. Katei, Japanese Calligrapher’s visit & Japan Foundation Handover Ceremony at Mindszenty High School
2025/3/26

The Embassy of Japan in Palau, in collaboration with renowned calligrapher Ms. Katei and Mindszenty High School, organized a cultural exchange event to introduce Japanese calligraphy to students.
The event began with a ceremony to handover educational materials donated by the Japan Foundation to Mindszenty High School’s Japanese Language Class, supporting students’ learning of the Japanese language and culture. Deputy Chief of Mission Mr. ONO Shunsuke presented the calligraphy tools to Principal Alan Marbou with a speech encouraging students to explore calligraphy as a form of self-expression.
Following the ceremony, Ms. Katei donated calligraphy tools and demonstrated her skill in creating intricate characters with brushstrokes. She also led a hands-on workshop, guiding students and helping them create their own calligraphy pieces.
This event gave students a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in Japanese culture and experience the beauty of calligraphy. The Embassy hopes such events will inspire more students to explore Japanese culture and history.
