From March 10 to 14, 2025, H.E. Surangel S. WHIPPS Jr., President of the Republic of Palau, visited Japan for two months in a row, totaling the 7th time since January 2021.
Meeting with Japan-Palau Parliamentary Friendship League
On March 10, President Whipps met with Ms. TSUCHIYA Shinako, member of the House of the Representatives and Chairperson of the Japan-Palau Parliamentary Friendship League, together with other League members. This meeting was to follow up on priority areas discussed when President Whipps visited Japan in February.

World Island Forum: High Level Roundtable
On March 11, President Whipps participated in World Island Forum: High Level Roundtable, co-hosted by The Nippon Foundation and Sasakawa Peace Foundation.

12th World Ocean Summit & Expo
On March 12, President Whipps participated in the 12th annual World Ocean Summit & Expo, hosted by Economist Impact, with the support of official host The Nippon Foundation.

Breakfast Meeting with Dr. Yoshino
On March 13, President Whipps had a breakfast meeting with Dr. YOSHINO Naoyuki, advisor to the Palau Ministry of Finance (and member of the Compact-Mandated Palau Economic Advisory Group, and Professor Emeritus of Economics, Keio University). Both reconfirmed their commitment to introducing savings bonds system to Palau.
