The 65th Birthday Celebration of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan

On February 17, 2025, the Embassy of Japan hosted the 65th Birthday celebration for His Majesty the Emperor of Japan at Palasia Hotel. Ambassador ORIKASA Hiroyuki welcomed a distinguished gathering, including His Excellency President Surangel Whipps Jr., First Lady, members of Council of Chiefs, Bilung Gloria Salii, members of the OEK, Ministers, Governors, Speakers of State Legislatures, the diplomatic corps, representatives of Sports Federations, representatives of Sakurakai, representatives of Women groups, and many more.
The reception commenced with the national anthems of Palau and Japan, followed by remarks from Ambassador Orikasa and President Whipps. Expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to celebrate this auspicious occasion with the people of Palau, Ambassador Orikasa remarked, “I believe that realistic and ideal diplomacy requires dedication to the values of tolerance, mutual respect, and willingness to give and share, as well as a selfless attitude and readiness to serve our countries. We must take practical actions, moving beyond mere sentiment to achieve concrete results for mutual benefit. I renew my determination to make effort to strengthening our bilateral relationship and promote regional stability, peace and prosperity.”
President Whipps, in his response, highlighted the deep historical ties between Japan and Palau, stating, “The relationship between our two countries is a longstanding one. It began in the 19th century coming to the shores of Palau and further developed from 1914.” He further emphasized the close people-to-people connections, that demonstrates our strong and lasting relationship, which is truly rooted in our people.”
The Embassy of Japan hopes that the deep and enduring ties between Japan and Palau will continue to flourish as we celebrate His Majesty’s birthday and commemorate the 10th year anniversary of the visit of Their Majesties Emperor Emeritus and Empress Emerita to Palau.
