The Embassy of Japan is delighted to announce the successful participation of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) in the annual Operations Christmas Drop 2024, a long-cherished tradition that brings joy to children and families across Palau. This year’s event included operations in Koror and Kayangel on December 8, followed by additional drops in Sonsorol, Pulo Anna, and Tobi on December 9, and in Peleliu and Angaur on December 12.

As part of this multi-national effort, JASDF joined the U.S. Air Force and Royal Australian Air Force to deliver boxes filled with gifts to children in Palau, ensuring that holiday cheer reached even the most remote communities. The packages included toys, school supplies, and other essentials to bring joy and excitement to the children.

This event holds a special place in the hearts of the people of Palau, especially the children, who eagerly await the sight of planes flying overhead, bringing surprises from the sky. The Embassy of Japan and JASDF are honored to be part of this heartwarming tradition, which strengthens the bonds of friendship while demonstrating the values of community and compassion.

The Embassy extends our heartfelt gratitude to the Government of Palau, local authorities, community members, and the participating international teams who make this event possible year after year. Together, we aim to continue this meaningful tradition, ensuring that the magic of Operations Christmas Drop remains an annual highlight for children in Palau.
