Embassy visit by Japan Coast Guard Mobile Cooperation Team

On November 18, 2024, the Japan Coast Guard Mobile Cooperation Team (MCT) conducted a training workshop for officers of the Division of Marine Law Enforcement (DMLE) of Palau, focusing on an introduction to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). CAPT MIURA Atsushi provided lectures aimed at building the officers’ understanding of international maritime laws and enhance their ability to apply these principles effectively.
 
Followingly, the MCT visited Mr. ONO Shunsuke, Charge' d' Affaires ad interim, to discuss maritime security in this region.
 
This MCT initiative under the support of the Nippon Foundation and the Sasakawa Peace Foundation reflects the ongoing cooperation between Japan and Palau in strengthening maritime security and promoting the sustainable management of marine resources.
