Overseas Fishery Cooperation Foundation of Japan Visits the Embassy
2024/10/9

On October 9, 2024, Dr. YOSEDA Kenzo, Advisor for Sustainable Use of Fishery Resources of Overseas Fishery Cooperation Foundation (OFCF) of Japan, Ms SUDA Runa of OFCF, and Mr NAKAMURA Ryota, Senior Researcher of Fisheries Infrastructure Development Center of Japan, met with Ambassador ORIKASA Hiroyuki to discuss the future activities in Palau.
OFCF provided a ten-year technical cooperation project until March 2024 at the Palau Mariculture Demonstration Center (PMDC) for the promotion of giant clam mariculture. As a result of the efforts of mariculture expert Mr. SONE Shigeaki, who successfully completed his tenure in Palau, as well as his Palauan counterparts, the giant clam seed production in Palau increased, contributing to the improved livelihood of local clam farmers in Palau.
OFCF plans to continue these efforts by supporting the maintenance of the PMDC built with Japanese assistance in 2019, as well as conducting a series of expert technical assistance in the near future.
