Ambassador Attends Damien Parer Memorial Service

On September 17, 2024, Ambassador Orikasa attends the memorial service for war photographer Damien Parer, hosted by the Australian Embassy. Since Their Majesties Emperor Emeritus Akihito and Empress Emerita Michiko visited Peleliu State on April 9, 2021, the State of Peleliu has designated April 9 as a state holiday. On that day every year, together with the Palau government and Peleliu State officials as well as island residents, we will held a ceremony for the war dead in the Western Pacific and for peace.
