Peleliu State Government Holds Ceremony to Commemorate the 9th Anniversary of Their Majesties' Visit to Peleliu

On Monday April 8, 2024, Ambassador ORIKASA Hiroyuki attended the Peleliu State Government’s ceremony to commemorate the 9th anniversary of the 2015 visit to the state by their Majesties Emperor Emeritus Akihito and Empress Emerita Michiko.

The ceremony was attended by many guests including President Surangel Whipps Jr., Minister of State Gustav Aitaro, Minister of Public Infrastructure and Industries Charles Obichang, Peleliu State Governor Emais Roberts and other Palauan government officials as well as Peleliu residents.

This ceremony has been held every year to commemorate the visit of Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress to Peleliu state on April 9, 2015, except for 2020 and 2021 due to COVD-19. The State of Peleliu has designated April 9 as a state holiday, which signifies the deep ties between Japan and Palau.
