Japan Embassy's Twitter followed by 50,000, ranked No.1 worldwide

2022/8/4

The Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Palau is celebrating another milestone of reaching 50,000 followers for their official Twitter account on August 4, 2022. The account is still having the most followers among all the official Twitter accounts of Japan's overseas diplomatic missions worldwide.

The Twitter account was ranked No.1 with the largest number of followers for the first time in August 2021 exceeding 40,000 at that time, now reaching 50,000.

Since the launch of its official Twitter and Facebook in October 2019, the Embassy has been actively engaging in the new platforms for their respective audiences. While tweeting mainly in Japanese, the Embassy sends out English posts via their Facebook page targeting primarily the general public in Palau.

During the COVID pandemic, the Embassy kept tweeting in Japanese about Palau's beautiful nature, traditional culture, various food, events and updates as well as history of Japan-Palau relations. These posts have become widely popular attracting those in Japan who would love to come, or come back, to Palau for a visit. While it became difficult to travel during the pandemic, many of these followers express their love for Palau in their replies as they enjoy a variety of contents with fresh pictures of the island nation with friendly ties with Japan.

The Embassy's Twitter and Facebook will continue to provide latest information in a timely manner including updated COVID-related measures and various highlights from Palau/Japan respectively.

The Embassy is grateful for the support from the followers and viewers of its social media and looks forward to further communicating with their audiences in a continuing effort to deepen further the relationship between peoples of Palau and Japan.
