JMSDF destroyer Kirisame to anchor in Malakal, Palau, from Monday, July 11 to Tuesday, July 19

            A Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) destroyer Kirisame, which is part of the Indo-Pacific Deployment 2022(IPD22) unit, will anchor in Malakal, Koror from 9:00 am on Monday, July 11 to 8:00 am on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, carrying approximately 180 crew members. You will be able to view Kirisame from Icebox Park or from your own boats.
           
            During their visit to Palau, the JMSDF members will conduct Japan - Palau goodwill exercise, engage in friendly exchanges with the local community including children through judo, softball and music, meet with the Government of Palau officials to further build the friendship between the two countries. During their stay, around 140 JMSDF members are expected to land on the islands of Palau to enjoy shopping and dining. Japan and Palau are friendly countries with a long history, and the two countries are advancing cooperation to realize a "Free and Open Indo-Pacific." This goodwill exercise and exchange is one of the concrete efforts.
 
            They will take all the necessary preventive measures against COVID-19 in compliance with the regulations of Palau.
