Largest Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Ship scheduled to anchor at Malakal Bay from 2 September and to 4 September

On the 1st September 2021, the Indo-Pacific Deployment (IPD) unit of Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) composing of three ships, “JS KAGA,” one of the largest ship in JMSDF,“JS MURASAME” and “JS SHIRANUI” conducted a goodwill exercise with two Palauan patrol ships, “PSS KEDAM” and “PSS REMELIK II”. Through this first goodwill exercise between Japan and Palau in history, the two countries further deepened a bilateral defense cooperation to realize “Free and Open Indo-Pacific”.
 
The IPD unit is expected to anchor at Malakal Bay, Koror State, where the public will be able to see them from Icebox Park and on your boat from 9:00 on Thursday, 2nd September to 13:30 on Saturday, 4th September.
 
H.E. Surangel S. Whipps, President of the Republic of Palau and other Palauan top government officials are expected to take a look at the three Japan’s ships from the Palauan ship, “PSS KEDAM”.
 
During its visit to Palau, the IPD unit will take all the necessary preventive measures against COVID-19 to comply with the regulation of Palau.
