UNICEF and the Government of Japan announce a new project for Palau to boost ongoing COVID-19 preparedness and response efforts

2021/7/27
On 24 July 2021, the Government of Japan and UNICEF announced a new project to support 14 Pacific Island governments including Palau with their COVID-19 preparedness and response efforts.

This support, in collaboration with UNICEF, follows the declaration earlier this month by the Prime Minister of Japan, SUGA Yoshihide, at the 9th Pacific Islands Leaders Meeting (PALM9) to support COVID-19 measures for the Pacific Island countries including Palau.

In this project, UNICEF funded by the Government of Japan will support activities of Ministry of Health and Human Services (MHHS) of Palau to continue the ongoing vaccination efforts for the people of Palau, including underage and outlying islanders. UNICEF will arrange the specific details of their support flexibly in cooperation with MHHS, considering the progress of the COVID-19 vaccination in Palau.
