Japan and US Ambassadors visit Peleliu Island to Commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the End of WWII

On August 15, Japanese Ambassador to Palau KARASAWA Akira and U.S. Ambassador to Palau John Hennessey-Niland visited Peleliu Island together in commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of the end of the World War II.

In the presence of Peleliu State Governor Temmy Shmull, both Ambassadors placed wreaths before the memorial built by the Japanese Government at Peleliu Peace Memorial Park and the U.S. Army 81st Infantry Division Memorial respectively, extending their heartfelt condolences to the souls of the numerous Japanese and Americans who died fighting in the present Republic of Palau including Peleliu.
