Embassy of Japan to hold the 9th JAPAN FAIR (February 17th, 2019)

The Embassy of Japan in Palau is pleased to host the 9th Japan Fair on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at Ngarchamayong Cultural Center from 1:30-4:20pm.
Aimed at strengthening the friendly relations between Japan and Palau, the program promotes cultural exchanges through booth activities, presentations and stage performances. This year we welcome guests from Hitachiomiya City in Ibaraki Prefecture (Palau’s host town for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games) introducing their town, Kochi Prefecture presenting traditional Yosacoy dance and Okinawa Prefecture performing Okinawan dance. We also have our regular participants from the Palau Japanese Language School and Palau Judo Federation to perform on stage.
Visitors will have opportunities to experience Japanese culture such as trying-on yukata (summer kimono), origami (art of folding paper), shodo (Japanese calligraphy) and sado (Japanese tea ceremony).
On this commemorative year which marks the 25th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Palau, we hope that the Japan Fair will further enhance the good relationship that exists between our two nations. Furthermore, during the Japan Fair, we hope to announce the official logo for our 25th anniversary.
