Japan Hands Over New School Bus to Melekeok Elementary School
On Tuesday August 28, 2018, Ambassador of Japan Toshiyuki Yamada formally handed over a brand new school bus to Melekeok Elementary School. It was attended by Delegate and PTA Chairman Lentcer Basilius, Minister of Education Sinton Soalablai, Melekeok State Legislator Hidencio Kintaro, Principal of Melekeok Elementary School Kerungil Tellei and other related personnel.
Through Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP), Melekeok Elementary School was granted a new 30-seater bus at a total cost of $107,245. Now that the brand new bus has arrived, Melekeok Elementary School could provide students with a safe and reliable transportation and take them to various outside activities. At the ceremony, Ambassador Yamada expressed his hope that this project could improve the learning environment for Melekeok Elementary School students.
