PCC students selected to participate in the JENESYS program

At the Embassy of Japan on January 26, 2017, Ambassador Toshiyuki Yamada congratulated two PCC students, Ms. Ayshia Udui and Ms. Daemi M. Ngirmidol on their selection to participate in the JENESYS program for the February 2017 tour to Japan. Both students are second year students at Palau Community College majoring in Information Technology.
JENESYS (Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths) is an initiative implemented by the University of the South Pacific in partnership with the Government of Japan. The program provides a fully funded nine (9) days study tour to Japan for University students from 16 Pacific Island countries and Australia and New Zealand. It gives students from the Pacific Island countries an opportunity to learn about other cultures not just for the Pacific Islands but to learn about Japanese culture as well.
Ms. Ayshia Udui and Ms. Daemi M. Ngirmidol will depart to Japan on February 15, 2017 to Tokyo and Okinawa. Both participants showed their interest in learning about the Japanese language, culture, lifestyle and food and were very excited to visit Japan. Staff from the Embassy of Japan shared with the participants some useful information about the program as well as about Japan.
Ambassador Yamada expressed his good wishes to the two participants for a meaningful and fruitful experience in Japan and reminded them to bring warm outfits as it is winter season in Japan.
