Scholarship Program
◆Teacher Training Program for 2016
The Government of Japan offers full scholarship covering tuition, other fees and allowance to Palau teachers who wish to conduct research on school education at Japanese universities.
1. Requirements
①Age: Must be born on or aftere April 2, 1981.
②Academic Background: An applicant must be a graduate of a university or a teacher training school and has worked as a teacher in home country for at least five years, as of April 1, 2016.
NOTE: Applicants must be willing to study the Japanese Language and to receive instructions in Japanese.
2. Term of Scholarship
Period necessary to complete each university's training course and should be between October 2016 (or the starting month of the study course) and March 2018.
3. Education in Japan
①The training at universities will be conducted in Japanese, in principle. A grantee with insufficient language ability will undergo Japanese-language education in a Japanese language study course at the appointed university for a period of six months at the beginning of the program.
②The purpose of this scholarship program is not to obtain a diploma. Therefore, a recipient cannot be enrolled in an undergraduate course at a university or a master's or doctorate course at a graduate school as a Japnese-government-sponsored international student in an undergraduate course or a master's degree or doctoral course at a graduate school.
4. Application Procedure
Please read Application Guideline 2016 carefully before applying. Application forms can be obtained through the links below or at the Embassy of Japan in Koror. Interested applicants are advised to contact the Embassy at 488-6455 for consultation. Application deadline is February 24, 2016. (If sent by mail, the post must arrive by February 24, 2016)
5. Tests
All applicants are required to take the Japanese and English tests at the Embassy of Japan in Palau. Testing dates will be announced later.
