◆Japan Fair 2013

The Embassy of Japan in Palau is going to hold the 3rd Japan Fair on February 17, 2013 at the Ngarachamayong Cultural Center from 2:00pm to 4:30pm. The Japan Fair has no admission fee and the Embassy of Japan invites the Palauan public to this fun and educational event. This year’s fair also expects 224 public elementary school student invitees.

The Japan Fair aims to showcase Japan’s unique culture through various presentations, songs, games, and other activities designed to promote Japanese cultural understanding. This year’s fair will feature a procession of a miniature shrine by Japanese Language School students, judo performance by Palau Judo Federation, song performances by Palau’s Senior Citizens and Palauan renowned singer, Mr. Taka Emesiochel, and presentations by a Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) volunteer and Palauan students who visited Japan through the Kizuna Project. The Kizuna Project invited 21 Palauan students and a teacher to Japan last year for insights on recovery efforts from the Great East Japan Earthquake and to gain understanding on the Japanese way of life.

The last Japan Fair held in 2011 had an attendance of almost 700 people.
