◆New Ambassador of Japan arrives at post

Upon the departure of Ambassador Yoshiyuki Sadaoka on 28th August, the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Palau, His Excellency Kazuhiro Tajiri, is set to arrive on September 5, 2013. The Government of Japan appointed Ambassador Tajiri on August 1, 2013.
Ambassador Tajiri will be the second resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Palau after Ambassador Sadaoka, who arrived in Palau in February 2010. The appointment and accreditation of Ambassador Tajiri coincides with the arrival in Tokyo of His Excellency Francis Matsutaro, new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Palau to Japan.
Ambassador Tajiri joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Japan in 1976. He has served in Washington D.C. and different places in the People’s Republic of China, from Beijing to Shanghai, Chonqing, Guangzhou, and then to Shenyang, which was his last overseas post before Palau. His most recent post at home was as Senior Regional Coordinator, China and Mongolia Division, Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau.
H.E. Tajiri was born in Ishikawa Prefecture. His wife, Mrs. Chieko Tajiri, will be accompanying the Ambassador to Palau.
