Ten Airai Elementary School students and two teachers, Mr. Joshua and Ms. Marino, visited Japan through the Children Exchange Program with Micronesian Islands, together with students from Marshall Islands and FSM. Since 2003, over 100 Palauan students have visited Japan through this program. The program is supported by Japanese Foreign Ministry and governments of Palau, Marshall Islands and FSM.

During their stay between 17th and 26th June, students and teachers joined various events such as visits to the National Diet Building, NHK Studio and Ueno Zoo. Participants also experienced one night homestay in Gunma prefecture.

On Friday, 29th June, all the participants met Ambassador Sadaoka at the Embassy of Japan and told about their activities in Japan. They said they were impressed by Japanese food, beautiful scenery and discipline of Japanese students. At the end of the visit, the students sang a Japanese song they recently learned, which lyrics say ‘Don’t forget me, and see you again’, and the well known ‘Momotaro’ song.
