◆Vice-President of House of Councilors of Japan visits Palau

(Hon. Otsuji and President Toribiong exchanging gifts)
From April 29th to May 2nd, Hon. Hidehisa OTSUJI, Vice-President of the House of Councilors of the National Diet of Japan, visited Palau with Hon. Toshiei MIZUOCHI, also a member of the House of Councilors. Vice-President Otusji is the highest ranking member of the legislative assembly of Japan that has ever visited Palau.
Their primary objective of the visit was to observe the repatriation of the remains of the fallen Japanese soldiers from WWII in Peleliu. They also met with President Toribiong, Minister Yano, Senate President Tmetuchl, House Speaker Idechong during their visit. Vice President Otsuji especially thanked President Toribiong for being very supportive of the bone collection activities.
They also had a chance to visit the Capitol, the chambers of OEK, and other sites which included the Malakal Power Plant and Koror State Solid Waste Management Office. Vice-President Otuji mentioned that he is willing to work hard to further enhance the friendly relationship between Japan and Palau and wish to visit Palau again.
