The Disembarkation Ceremony

The disembarkation ceremony was held in Malakal on March 25, 2024, for the 20 young trainees aboard the tall ship “Miraie,” which had departed from the Port of Yokohama in Japan on March 10, as the Japan-Palau Goodwill Yacht Race 2024 participating vessels set sail for Palau.
Ambassador ORIKASA Hiroyuki was pleased to join the guests at the ceremony including former President of Palau Mr. Tommy Remengesau Jr.; Minister of State Mr. Gustav Aitaro; Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and the Environment Mr. Steven Victor; and Mr. Sam Scott, President of the Palau Sailing Association. Mr. NITTA Hajime, Representative Director/Managing Director, Japan and Palau Youth Sailing Club, and Dr. SAKAGUCHI Hide, President of the Ocean Policy Research Institute and Executive Director of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation were also in attendance.
The 20 trainees who completed their two-week program during their voyage to Palau were filled with a sense of accomplishment and had refreshing expressions on their faces.
